It would be great if your C editor would allow for a top-down split screen, so that you can view two areas of code at the same time.

With the new tab view, this is probably better. For now, to get a second (or third, fourth) view of the current source window, use 'New window' on the 'Window' menu, and then 'Tile vertically'.
