Title: Setup files naming
Post by: dk on October 30, 2005, 11:02:37 PM
Hi Pelle!
I think it's not a big deal but wouldn't it be more convenient not to name installers as "setup.exe" but as "PellesC-4.0.exe" for example?
Weren't you yourself confused at first glance on what version it is?
Sorry but there's many software packages in the Net named "setup.exe" so it may be not a trivial task to understand what product it belongs to...

This question has been asked several times.

For administrative reasons, it is inconvenient for Pelle to do this.

It is much easier for you, when you download it, to change the name from setup.exe to whatever you like.

I personally use

Pelle's C Version 4.00 setup.exe

and for the addins

Pelle's C Version 4.00 AddIns SDK setup.exe

It's asked too many times by now. I guess I will have to do something about it - maybe for the next version...
