Probably Dennis Ritchie was more relevant to the Computer Science than Steve Jobs.
There is no way to do a "direct comparison", but I can live without an Iphone or an Ipad.

However who can live, today, without World Wide Web? And how was possible to achieve WWW without using UNIX? Without using C?
Think about it.

Thanks Dennis!!

Rafael

He *is* ( and will last forever) the greatest!
Sadly people look for a nice exterior design, but don't care for the one who invented the wheel.......
(and is also happy to get trapped inside it, Jobs has been a dreamer, but he liked to kept carefully closed its products. The 'C' *is* the language of open software).

I can't say it better than my Russian fellow coder.

Quote
While Ritchie is physically died his works are immortal, sure. C is
one of the best languages ever invented by people, as well as UNIX API
is one of the best designs. Compare fopen() and CreateFile() calls.
How simple is the first one - any child can use it, and how
complicated is the second.

Both nicely done. I realize many of you may be aware of these two, but thought I would post them anyway.
