Title: Windows 10 Installation
Post by: NoelSG on November 19, 2019, 10:10:07 PM
Hi,

I am new to Pelles C....
I have installed it on Windows 10, 64 bits, and I get several problems:
1. I can't install version 9: can't write samples project files
2. When installing version 8, the installation is ok but when I try to create a new project, it doesn't work: the IDE cannot create the project repository.
I have administration rights, I have tryed to execute it in Admin mode, I have reinstalled it, rebooted, checked the files permissions etc.

Any idea?

Thanks a lot.

Noel

Hi, I recently installed 9.00 on a windows 10 machine and also run version 8 on a windows 7 machine.  More specific information on your issues would be helpful.  However here are some things to get started.  for #1) The only issue I ran into installing version 9.00 was that the shortcut that was created referenced poide64.exe when filename is really just poide.exe.  Second although there is a checkbox for sample files in the install there are no sample files included anymore.  You can use the version 8 samples files.  for #2) If you create a Files or Samples directory under PellesC and put the samples there or try to create a project there you must first change the permission so that you have 'full control'.  This permission is under properties - security - users and applies to both versions of PellesC if you create the 'Files' or 'Samples' directory under the Program Directories.

If these don't fix your issues, please post more specific information on the problem.

#1) The only issue I ran into installing version 9.00 was that the shortcut that was created referenced poide64.exe when filename is really just poide.exe.
( Right, but only if you choose "Install for all users on this computer". I will fix this for the next version. )

Second although there is a checkbox for sample files in the install there are no sample files included anymore.
( The only checkbox I know is for Add-In samples. I usually test with "Install for me only", so possibly something to do with that... )

Actually to correct myself there is a 'Standard C ' samples directory under 'Documents' or  C:\Users\John\Documents\Pelles C Projects\Samples\Standard C with a Hello project.  My error in not looking further.  I usually set up projects elsewhere......
