Is there a limit to the number of files we can open at one time?

I'm working on a project that incorporates a lot of small source files.

It seems I can't open more than 9 files at a time... Is this by design?

Note: The size of the files is not an issue.  I've opened 2 or 3 really big ones (100K+) at a time with no problem.  It's the maximum number of files I'm wondering about.

I have tried it and I can open more than 9 files at a time. If you look in the window menu, you can see the first 9 files to select direct and a menu item to get more windows. If you select this you get a dialog where you can select all windows.

Hi Alex... no matter what I do, 9 is my limit...  Strange.

EDIT:
 I just tried disabling all addins... and tried with and without a project loaded ... still only 9.
I tried opening really big files... it opened 9 of them.
It's on a machine with Win7-x86 with 2gb ram, if that matters.

With Win 7 64-bit:
32-bit version open only 9 file.
64-bit version works OK.

I don't remember if this started with 6.5 or 6.0 ... but it is a tad annoying.

I tried it with Vista and Windows XP both with 32-bit - and both seem to work OK. I can open more then 9 files ( 7 from a project and some of other projects).

No error, no crash, no warning... it just doesn't open the file.
