In the BCX Basic Forum, a member proposed this project as MS is intending to retire the Visual Basic Scripting Engine :

Note that for now it affects only client not server platforms.  Doesn't appear to include VB for Applications (VBA)
They want everyone to migrate to PowerShell scripts.

Exactly. There are a lot of complaints mentioning the slowness of Powershell. Me too, I feel the same thing.
